Yacht Hull and Bulkhead Survey Report
The Hull and Bulkhead survey is an inspection of just the main hull and the bulkheads with particular attention to the integrity of their attachment to one another.
As with the Structural survey this may require some removal of internal furniture and internal linings to gain access in the event that internal decoration is hiding some vital areas for examination.
In such cases, the use of a local boat yard may be required to
undertake the necessary action and restoration work.
For this type of survey, the surveyor will concentrate on the physical
condition of the hull, the integrity of the internal stiffening and the
attachment of the bulkhead to the hull. The attachment of external ballast such as the keel will also receive
particular attention and this will require confirmation of the integrity of the attachment bolts either by removing one for examination
or by a non disturbing method such as X-Ray photography (more satisfactory but expensive).
