Yacht Structural Report
The structural survey is an examination in depth of some or all of the
physical structure of the subject vessel. Often this type of survey will require significant opening up of the inside of the vessel for examination and the taking of samples.
Internal furniture and linings may need to be removed to gain access and holes may need
to be cut in foam reinforced structures such as deck to check the condition of the foam cores. It follows from this that such a survey needs to be undertaken
in conjunction with a boat yard who can repair access holes and restore the yacht internals to the original condition.
The objective of the structural survey is to confirm the condition and mechanical integity of the structure. Such a survey is time consuming and expensive an is generally
only carried out if there is reason to believe that the strength of the vessel has been compromised for some reason such as the yacht falling over when dried out.
